I try to get around to seeing films I either have never seen, or haven’t seen in a while.

This week I got around to seeing the Nick Cage film that I heard was good, and found out was awesome.

This film was surprising good. I was not aware Scorsese directed this.

It starts Nick Cage as a paramedic who hasn’t saved anyone in months and the ghosts of the people he hasn’t saved are starting to get to him. It takes place over a weekend which he runs the night shift from 9-6. During which he drives with his partners John Goodman, Ving Rhames, and Tom Sizemore. He also chats with Patricia Arquette, who is the daughter of a dying man he brought in. This film shows the depravity of late night NY, the chaos of a hospital waiting room, and the stress the medical facility goes through dealing with drug users and their withdraw-insanity. I highly recommend this.

This really proves that Nick Cage is a good actor, but it needs to be in “weird” films. Action films aren’t his, but Matchstick Men, Lord of War, Port of Call New Orleans, and this, show that the stranger and off-beat the movie, the better the Cage.

I honestly couldn’t sit through this film. Its another Sam Worthington “genre” film as I call it:

Sam Worthinton is a character without a goal in life (convicted prisoner, paralyzed marine, Greek fisherman)

A tragedy befalls him as the only survivor ( survives Sky-net explosion and death apparently, giant Pandora dinosaur attack, Hades blows his family’s ship up.)

HE is taken by an tribe to meet their leader( Human Resistance and John Conner, The Navi and the Navi tree people and shit, the Greek town and the king there)

falls for a broad ( the Pilot chick, The Navi chick, Catherine Heigl)

It is found hes half something ( terminator, Navi VR controlled human, half-deity)

He joins their side and is given a destiny ( Stop Sky-net, Become a Navi fighter, Kill the Kraken)

At this point you see where Im going. Well third time is not a charm so about 45 minutes in when he gets a montage of how to use a sword I left the theater and went to see Hot Tub Time Machine.

That movie was funny, Rob Cordrey makes the movie. Crispin Glover and his missing arm gag is something to talk about, see that instead.

Saw the trailer today. A bunch of marines fighting on a planet inhabited by blue cat like humanoids that look sleek and smooth and exhibit human behavior. Looks like Furry Genocide and im down with that.
